Dr. Asim Khwaja is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist practicing at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, the largest teaching hospital and tertiary referral center in Abu Dhabi. He received his medical degree from Boston University, USA and completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology and fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Brown University in Rhode Island.
He has over 20 years of experience in vascular procedures, including endovascular treatment of peripheral arterial disease, varicose veins, deep venous thrombosis and dialysis access maintenance as well as a wide range of embolization procedures. He also has expertise in interventional oncology including tumor ablation and intra-arterial chemo-embolization, as well as a wide range of non-vascular procedures and pediatric interventions.
Dr. Khwaja pioneered the use of carbon dioxide angiography in UAE and has been invited as an expert speaker or moderator in multiple national and international meetings. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology in Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology and is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology and Radiology Leadership Institute.
