Hicham Abada was born in Algiers. After he had completed his medical degree in Algeria (1992), he went to Belgium for a 5-year residency program in Radiology followed by one year of fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology in the leading academic department of radiology of the University of Brussels (Erasme Hospital). He then joined the department of vascular radiology of Broussais Hospital in Paris, France; before accepting a position in the Department of Radiology at Central Army Hospital in Algiers in 1999. He came back to France, in 2001, where he joined the department of Radiology of Rene Dubos Hospital leading the vascular and interventional radiology program for 5 years. In 2006, he joined VIR section of the department of radiology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, as an Associate Professor, he was in charge, in addition to his interventional radiology work, the peripheral vascular imaging program and was Director of the Uterine Fibroid Clinic as well. He joined the vascular and interventional division of the department of Radiology at the University of Kentucky as an Associate Professor in 2009. He recently moved to Abu Dhabi to lead the department of interventional radiology at CCAD in august 2014.
