José Ignacio Bilbao Jaureguízar graduated from medical school in 1979 and was awarded his doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Navarra in 1988. Dr. Jaureguízar currently  works as a Radiodiagnosis Specialist at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. He is a clinical consultant in the Radiology Department, and a Vascular and Interventional Radiology Unit Coordinator at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. He is also the Deputy Director of the Vascular Medicine Area at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and a associate professor at the University of Navarra. Moreover he is the Head of a greater specialisation course at the University: Vascular and Interventional Radiology

Dr. Jaureguízar has led and participated in several research projects about the multidisciplinary treatment of osteosarcoma, percutaneous porto-caval shunt, hepatic volumetrics and the embolization particle Hepasphere.

He is the Co-author of 37 books and author of over 160 articles in national and international magazines.
